Hallux Limitus - Pathology and Treatment
Functional hallux limitus is a restriction of dorsiflexion of the 1st metatarsophalangeal joint (MPJ) associated with certain foot types. The greater the ground reactive force under the first metatarsal, the more the first ray dorsiflexes and the more restrictive the motion in the first MPJ.
ProLab’s Hallux Limitus Orthoses effectively decrease compression forces within the first MPJ by controlling rearfoot eversion and supporting any everted forefoot deformity through orthotic correction. This results in greater joint mobility and pain relief, and also helps prevent joint degradation.
