A question came up on PM News the other day regarding the availability of prefabricated gait plates for in-toeing. As far as we know there are none on the market. There is simply not enough call for these devices to make producing a prefabricated gait plate financially viable.
We do make a custom gait plate when requested, but there is very little, if any, literature to support the use of gait plates to reduce in-toeing. I don't use them in my practice and instead will use a prefabricated or custom foot orthosis to limit pronatory compensation for the in-toeing. I find that this also tends to make the child less prone to tripping. the Prolab Kiddythotic offers excellent control of excessive pronation.
If you see children in your practice we suggest you carry a size run of the Kiddythotics or contact customer service to order a sizing set.
